Has the UN Failed?
The United Nations deals with resolution of conflict among its members. However, different authors have different views concerning the UN. Despite the fact that the UN seems to have achieved its goals in maintaining peace, many people still believe that the reality is different. This annotated bibliography is about the achievement of the United Nations.

Shenali believes that the UN has failed to do its duties as expected in the recent past. He gives an example of the genocide, whereby the UN was unable to stop the genocide in Rwanda. The genocide led to the death of many individual. Same as Chandra, the author believes that the UN failed to deploy enough weapons and soldiers to handle the situation in Rwanda. As a result, the Hutu people killed many Tutsi.

On the other hand, Chandra believes that the UN failed to save the Muslims killed by the Serbs in 1995. Unlike Shenali, the author illustrates how the UN soldiers were held hostage by the Serbs rather than save the Muslims. However, similar to Shenali, the author argues that the UN failed terribly because they did not send troops in time. Chadra, therefore, believes that the killings experienced were similar to what happened in Rwanda.

Conversely, Max contents that the United Nations has failed to maintain equality amongst its member states. Unlike Chandra and Shenali, this author analyses how the United Nations has failed to represent developing nations in the UN assembly. Max highlights how most developed nations influence most of the decision-making in the UN. Similar to Shenali and Chandra, the author believes that the UN has failed to maintain security and peace. Max also depicts how the UN has lost transparency and how it incorporates corruptions in its dealings.

Indifferent with the other authors, Huggins believes that the UN has helped resolve conflicts among the members. However, like Chandra and Shenali, Huggins feels that the UN should try to minimize the killings that have happened in the recent past. Unlike the other authors, Huggins acknowledges what the UN has done so far, but encourages the UN to deploy more troops. The author depicts how the UN has used programs, such as WHO to offer food to the developing nations. He however, believes that the UN should do more than that to ensure the security of the developing nation
