Evaluating Team Values and Effectiveness
Competence is used as a framework to help focus the members’ behavior on the factors that matter for the healthcare team thus driving success for the organization. Beyond possessing various skills, members of my healthcare team value competence by effectively undertaking their roles associated with the standards of excellence required in various tasks. Besides, the members possess various essential skills relevant to the nursing field such as good communication, project management, and creative and critical thinking skills.
The purpose and goal of my healthcare team is to improve patient care. All members are aware of the team’s objective. By valuing competence, they are aware that they should act ethically while attending to patients. Each team member attends to distinct roles and responsibilities. The members are aware of what they are expected to do to drive the team’s success.
The members actively participate in the team’s activities and are aware of their roles and responsibilities. They are also aware of various opportunities that the team should explore to improve patient care delivery.
Our healthcare team is cohesive which is evident in how the members respect and value each other. Notably, they are ready to work with each other towards helping the team achieve its overall objective. The members are aware that the team may fail to achieve its main goals if cohesiveness is not fully integrated into the group.
A commonality in the team ensures that members offer each other support and that each member contributes equally to progress for the team. The objective of such attributes is to help the team achieve its goals.
Members are committed to helping the team achieve its purpose, goals, and tasks. This is evident in the general attributes that the members share. Such attributes include a commitment to tackling designated duties while offering support to other members.
The team members effectively communicate with each other. For instance, they consult each other on various critical situations such as when a patient requires emergency care. Smooth and effective communication within the team yields positive outcomes for both the members and patients.
All members of the team are interdependent. Hence, we rely on one another to make the right decisions. We support one another during critical situations such as when a patient requires emergency care.
There is camaraderie among the team members. To maintain it, members consistently share important information within the team and support each other when the need arises.
The team records high energy levels as it regularly reviews its effectiveness thereby continually improving its performance metrics. The team members are productive and eager to learn and improve care delivery.
The two values that I would like to target to improve the team’s effectiveness are active participation and cohesiveness. It is important to maintain and improve the team’s cohesiveness by engaging in interactive meetings (Mickan 215). The team uses focus discussion groups to ensure that each member fully participates in the decision-making processes and activities. Team members are encouraged to actively participate in various activities and initiatives. All members are committed to helping the team achieve its purpose, goals, and tasks by supporting each other in various roles and responsibilities. My team uses incentives, motivation, and efficacy tools to support member participation. Using such tools, all members are appreciated for their contribution towards helping the team achieve its purpose.
