Artificial intelligence is a technological creation of contemporary society, which has impacted the operations in different sectors. By definition, artificial intelligence refers to
machines' work processing, which would require a lot of intelligence if performed by humans
(Wisskirchen, et al. 9). The impact of artificial intelligence has been beneficial and also
worrying. For example, the consensus among experts supposes that artificial intelligence will
automate everything in the near future, resulting in job losses. The articles “Artificial
Intelligence and Robotics and Their Impact on the Workplace” and “The Impact of Artificial
Intelligence on Work” explore this concept by theorizing that the automation process by artificial
intelligence is an inevitable future that increases the likelihood of job loss. In particular, the
articles purport that almost all workgroups, ranging from factory workers, accountants,
radiologists, doctors, truckers, to paralegals, will be affected by the issue of automated
workplaces due to artificial intelligence. Thus, the fears of artificial intelligence impacts on
job/economy are mainly because it will take over human jobs, negatively impact labor markets,
and reduce the job vacancies available to humans.

The presence of artificial intelligence in workplaces increases the possibility of job loss
among humans. Researchers agree that artificial intelligence is a supported concept in modern-
day workplaces. The only drawback to its assimilation is that there are fears that it will take over
human jobs. According to Wisskirchen, et al., various jobs will be past tense approximately three
decades from now (14). Such jobs include court clerks, accountants, desk officers, industry
workers, among others. The targeted jobs for replacement by artificial intelligence are
categorically those that entail high levels of routine performance. This is attributed to the fact
that artificial intelligence has the capability to perform these tasks independently by using
specific software. For instance, a job that involves an employee sitting in front of a
computer/screen and analyzing data have a high possibility of being substituted by artificial
intelligence due to its unparalleled ability to interpret such information.
The incorporation of artificial intelligence in workplaces will reduce the number of job
vacancies available to people. According to Wisskirchen, et al., artificial intelligence will greatly
impact the job sector since most employees will lose their jobs (15). However, the one fact that
cannot be ignored is that artificial intelligence will not replace all jobs. As a result, the number of
employees in an organization will reduce significantly as they will mostly monitor the processes
of artificial intelligence and repair the broken robots. People are already struggling to find jobs in
their areas of expertise, and a reduced number of job opportunities will only worsen the situation.
Additionally, with the robots being the dominating workers, humans will be subjected to harsh
working conditions, such as having to put with poorly paid jobs since it is relatively cheaper to
employ a robot compared to humans.
Artificial will not only adversely affect employment on personal levels but will also
negatively impact labor markets. Frontier Economics expounds on this by supposing that, in

history, technological changes have had significant effects on economic growth (17). Apparently,
the effects of technology on economic growth are because the transitions are not devoid of prior
social, cultural, and economic conditions. For example, in the context of the industrial
revolution, technological changes are closely linked with affecting the labor markets as most
people lose their jobs. The outcome of such occurrences is that it results in downtime in the labor
market due to ‘job polarization’. Moreover, artificial intelligence will mean that all workers will
need to gain higher education on technology to operate these pieces of machinery, resulting in an
imbalance.
In conclusion, the fears of artificial intelligence in workplaces are not unsupported. In
fact, researchers theorize that artificial intelligence is an inevitable threat to humans in their
respective workplaces. In the coming years, the majority of people have higher chances of losing
their jobs to computers, particularly the routine type of jobs. Supporting evidence shows that
artificial intelligence will do the job better than humans, and this will reduce the number of job
vacancies available to them.
