Sample Paper on Composition: Image Analysis

(IA, 2014).

The image above is an indication that male and female genders value families. It is therefore positioned to encourage people across western nations to set up families. The image includes a woman as they are tasked with more responsibilities than men in relation to childbearing. However, the author lists a number of factors that can hinder a woman from leading a high-quality fertile life. It acknowledges that male married partners can face difficulties in starting a family. The author further lists signs and symptoms that women can identify with in order to evaluate fertility levels among men. Based on the information passed across to the public through this image, persons across different and diverse cultural, religious, and traditions can conclude as follows.

Foremost, the author believes women are more persistent with an upper hand in starting a family. The image asserts that women should adopt the canned man in order to conceive. The author does not include a man in the picture. This can be translated in different ways among persons from diverse cultures, religious beliefs, and traditions. For example, the majority of men assert women ought to undertake contraception measures in relation to family planning. Thus, women are tasked with planning and actually starting a family. They determine the number of children they can provide for effectively, efficiently, and sufficiently. The image, therefore, describes women and husbands as active and passive marriage partners respectively.

The author of the image includes the following writings at the top of the image “is your man on the wane, don’t worry you’ve got a man in a can”. This is the first message a reader is attracted to. More so, the author ensures the writings asserting a woman can access and afford an artificial man are bold in different fonts and colors. This statement can be offensive culturally, religiously, and traditions across the male fraternity.

People from different and diverse cultures, traditions, and religious groups believe men are the heads of the family. Thus, men should be accorded the respect they deserve. However, encouraging women to start a family with an artificial man constrained in a can is disrespectful and emaciating. The author’s statement accompanying the image portrays men as marriage partners with the little contribution to the family and society. More so, it is easy for women to seek alternatives when men fail to oblige in meeting and fulfilling their roles and responsibilities. This is because; although roles and responsibilities undertaken by men are significant, they can be easily remanufactured and repackaged in affordable and accessible portions sold in cans. Thus, male readers can feel emaciated and disrespected from reading and analyzing this image as it asserts their duties as marriage partners can be easily substituted.

In addition, the author uses a woman to signify fertility issues among marriage partners. Thus, the image assumes that women do not suffer from infertility or challenges in establishing a family. This is incorrect and misleading on social, ethical, and medical aspects because women also suffer from infertility challenges. More so, the author lists various symptoms signifying a man is suffering from fertility issues. They include, low sperm count, lack of enough time to engage in sex, suffering from related to work issues, and being impotent among others.

These signs and symptoms can signify more complex social and medical issues among men besides the inability to bear children with a woman. For example, lack of time to engage in sex can be attributed to internal family issues between marriage partners. Most marriage partners undergo conflicts and misunderstandings. As a result, the partners keep off until tempers cool off. If they do not discuss and resolve the issue amicably as soon as possible, they drift apart. For example, they can either choose to work overtime elevating stress levels further.

The author was trying to provide simple solutions for women suffering from fertility issues due to infertile male partners. However, the author should also acknowledge medical issues can also cause infertility among men and women as well. The image should therefore have been utilized in encouraging men and women to seek medical assistance. Some fertility issues especially caused by elevated stress levels can be reversed and treated. (SLUSM, 2011).

Conclusion

I chose this image as it influences peoples’ beliefs in relation to marriage, culture, religion, tradition, and technology. It asserts that cultural and traditional beliefs are being influenced by innovation and technology. For example, it asserts that technology can be applied in solving fertility issues among marriage partners. However, I do not think encouraging women to apply such approaches in fulfilling their desires to establish a family is ethical. The author should have authored a statement encouraging marriage partners to seek medical assistance from professional practitioners. It is, therefore, wrong for an author to publish an image a large group of persons will read and interpret differently. Authors should analyze an image based on different opinions, ideas, cultures, genders, traditional, and religious aspects. This can ensure the message passed across through the image is clear and concise without disrespecting the male or female gender.
