A Look into Ethical Responsibilities of Early Childhood Educators and Professionals

Ethical Responsibilities for early childhood professionals are clear-cut and well spelled out. Section 1.3 of the Florida state code of ethics codes provides a clause that can help earlychildhood professionals  protect a child as it protectsagainst discrimination on the basis of race, color,physical disability,  age,national origin, sex,political belief, religion, socio-economic status, psychiatric or psychological impairment, or the amount of previous therapeutic or treatment occurrences.

Sections 1.4 of the codesprotect children from any harm that may be caused by any mental, physical, or behavioral health related adversityof a professional.On the other hand, Section 2.2of the codes protects children by ensuring that professional handling children are federal and state law abiding citizens and that they do not engage like selling of any illegal substances to children. Additionally, section 7 of the codes, records ofthe children are protected since it requires that a certified professional make correct and timely essential entries into the consumer records.

According tosection 6.1 of the Florida state codes, it is the responsibility of a professional to take reasonable steps to warn any likely or imminent danger to victims.  This act ensures that the environments around children are safe and consistent with federal and state confidentiality laws.

Section 2 of the codes explains that it is the responsibility of a professional to report any criminal involvement within 72 hours of release from state or federal confinement.

Under section 7, it is the responsibility of a certified professional to make correctly and timely entries of consumer records. In the case of early childhood education, these entail examination tests results.
