Sample Psychology Research Paper on Personality


Personality type generally refers to the psychological classification of individuals. My personality type is Introverted Intuitive Thinking Judging abbreviated as INTJ. People with this personality type project self-confidence emanating from knowledge systems they embark on developing at young ages. INTJs are very aware of what they do know and what they do not know. My point of dilemma in my personality was my preference for sensing over intuition and perceiving over judging. Nevertheless, my associations with my peers and family have often displayed strong judgmental and intuition tendencies.

Personality testing is an effective and convenient method of identifying individuals’ weaknesses and strengths based on their personality type. As a result, one can build upon their identified strengths and work on improving their identified weaknesses. It creates a sense of personal knowledge within an individual for self-improvement. For instance, after taking the test, I was able to identify, pinpoint, and understand most of my character traits. Additionally, the measure enabled me to dig deep within myself to fully accept my strengths and weaknesses and positively work on improvement.

INTJs possess perfection traits with an urge to improve upon anything that is of interest to them. This personality type is known for its possession of the rather unusual trait combination of imagination and reliability. Moreover, individuals of this personality type are independent thinkers who are able to seize opportunities that others may not even notice. In the interpersonal area, they have intuitive abilities, are willing to put in consistent, repeated efforts to understand and support their loved ones (Nevid, 2015). Their relationships tend to be characterized by their vigor, stability, and good communication. Individuals in this group are very instinctive and have the ability to decipher meanings behind actions such as voice tone, turn of phrase, gestures, and facial expressions. In addition to that, they are impartial and careful when recognizing individual contributions put in a project.

INTJs tend to be unsparing both to themselves and others and may disregard authority when working on projects in pursuit of perfection. They also tend to be easily irritated, very private, and naturally expressionless making them easy to misunderstand and disagree with. They prefer directness and unlimited reasonability to affection and empathy. This characteristic forms their weakness, especially in the field relationships.

Personality type affects the behavior of a person either directly, indirectly, or in both ways. Therefore, awareness of personality types is very helpful in predicting a person’s behavior in various settings such as the workplace, social settings, and relationships. In the workplace assessment of an employee in order to determine areas where an employee can contribute to their fullest potential and most productivity, their motivating factors, their potential skills lead to greater overall productivity and a decrease in turn over. The personality measure helps in assessing and developing leadership skills. Additionally, the measure can be used to create and develop an effective working relationship between two employees and evaluating candidates for promotion. The measure is also recommended to determine and analyze the likely effects of introducing the candidate into an existing team and improve teamwork.

The Bible urges us not to judge one based on their appearances but based on their character and behavior, which determines their personality type. The Bible addresses the expressions of personality such as intellect and emotions in the context of the heart, shuns negative character traits as weaknesses, and upraises positive traits as strengths, both of which form a person’s personality type
