Management

Management is an integral unit in the organization that ensures the stakeholders work towards the realization of the set objectives. They are involved in controlling employees and making important decisions about their workforce (Valeria, Kurowski and Mills 70). Employees are primarily as important as any other organizational unit because they enhance productivity if their welfare is well considered. However, there is a contention in approach, either vertical or horizontal, that managers adopt towards their workforce and whether there is discord between young and old generation.

Vertical approach is reliable in controlling employees and enhancing productivity in the organization. Each responsibility is disseminated and well defined in such a way that it eludes the possibility of employees’ conflict (Aoki 980). The vertical approach gives the management a chance to arrange the organization in departmental units that are easy to manage and supervise. Arranging employees in groups makes management easy since communication is deemed efficient. Vertical approach displays the top-level management’s authority that makes employees productive. On the other hand, there is a heated debate between the young and old generation in the work environment (Ng, Schweitzer and Lyons 290). The young generation is robust and innovative; hence, they work vigorously so that they may achieve their personal goals. As a result,they are submissive and they dedicate their time, energy and focus in working. The managerial team does not find difficulty dealing with the young generation because they are not occupied in their social environment as compared to the older generation. In conclusion, vertical management is preferred to the horizontal management because it aids in defining responsibilities and tasks. Each individual understands his or her work without external pressures. Additionally, the older generation has more discord than the young because the old believe they have experience and the rights to question the management.
