Sample Research Paper on Team Cohesion

Team cohesion is the extent of relational connection and strength existing among
members of a group. This bond causes members to partake voluntarily and remain inspired to
achieve the set goals. According to the article, The Turn to Online Research is Narrowing the
Range of Modern Scholarship written by Rebecca tuhus-Dubrow we learn that the internet has
both advantages and disadvantages to the society in that it has allowed access to vast amounts of
information on the other hand critics say that the internet has caused groupthink (Braxton 2016)
which is a term that refers to the students aside from having a comprehensive information they
tend to have the same research result since they all go for the first link they see on the internet
and don’t do much research on the topics.
In my opinion, I believe that the internet has brought positive effects on scholarship.
First, it has promoted cohesion between students in that they can communicate with each other
real-time at the comfort of their homes at any time after class hours and can maximize the time
of working on the assignment instead of waiting for class hours (Dubrow 2008) or for them to set
a meeting to meet at the library which may take a lot of time to complete the research
nevertheless libraries can lack many books to access information required unlike the internet
where information is in bulk most scholars may likely apply groupthink. I believe as much as it
may apply to most scholars, others may use different sources in their study; it is preferable to
have access to extensive information than to have limited knowledge in the name of groupthink.
Team cohesion is also portrayed and quoted in the bible in many occasions an instance of
a biblical quote is from proverbs 27:17 which says “iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth

TEAM COHESION 3
the countenance of his friend” which means in the case of scholars that through teamwork all
members will get to benefit more than having to do the research individually. They will have a
chance to teach each other on topics that one did not fully understand. This instance can also be
seen in another biblical verse from 1 peter 4:10 “as every man hath received the gift, even so,
minister the same one to another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God” it stresses on
how each individual has unique qualities gifted by God so as a group together may have a lot of
things to share with each another.
