In fact, all online learning require students to pay fees to access learning materials for which there are no grants or loans. More so, the state does not provide any financial assistance to the online learning. Thus, the online course fee for FIU students of ($160) should be abolished to increase the number of students who integrate on their learning course.

Firstly, when states announce that they would stop charging fees for their learning institutions, all the teachers and parents scramble for more resources for an expected increase in the number of students. Many students, old and young, join the learning institutions eager to learn or acquire knowledge (Lanham & Zhou, 2003). Abolishing of fees in those learning institution depicts the impact of increased access to learning materials and knowledge. The rate of the drop outs also reduces. The latter is an indication of positive effects of abolishing school fees in learning institutions. Therefore, abolishing the online course fee would make more people learn online, and increase the number of learned people in a nation.

In addition, an educated populace adds more value to the nation as it offers economic booms to the nation. This gives the region a comparative advantage when it comes to service production and increased innovation in technology. By abolishing the online course fee for the FIU University, there will be an increased quality and likelihood of investments in the foreign and domestic companies. This is because the courses offered on the FIU’s website will enlighten people when making investment decisions.

Additionally, all the facets of the economic development and growth are dependent on education (Lanham & Zhou, 2003). The economy depends on leaders who can only be acquired from educated generations. The barriers created by the fees for the online learning will reduce the number of people who get such benefits. As a result, the online fees must be abolished.

Nevertheless, according to Armatas (2008), an educated populace might not necessarily mean there would be higher economic bounties. He adds that it is true that countries need educated people, but there is no need of having educated people doing the work of individuals who are not learned. He also argues that leaders can also develop even without the online learning due to their gifts or other means. According to Curtis (1999), an economy does not need free online learning to improve its technicality or production.

Although abolishing the online course fee for FIU students of ($160) would seem a minor issue, its impacts can be great because of the long-term knowledge gained from the learning.  The increased number of people who will join the institution will enhance the economy considerably. This will benefit everybody around the globe. The advantages are therefore more compared to disadvantages. Therefore, the online course fee for FIU students of ($160) should be abolished.
