My dream to become a certified accountant began when my father realized that I was good in mathematics ever since my third year in primary school. He suggested that I should contemplate on becoming an accountant when I grew up because I was also smart in solving my siblings’ problems. Subsequently, I have nurtured the dream of working in a prestigious firm as an accountant. To have my aspirations come true, I realized that I had to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, so as to gain in depth knowledge of the business environment. I have already enrolled for a Master’s program in Accounting, which will end in October 2015. I would like to be part of the individuals who can be sought after to assist the government in achieving its long-term goals. I am optimistic about my future and I believe getting a scholarship will assist me in accomplishing my dream goals.
During my high school days, I was involved in club’s activities, where I assisted in preparing the budget for the year. Pursuing a bachelors’ degree in Accounting was the best decision that I have ever made so far, and this has exposed me to numerous accounting disciplines such as Managerial Accounting, Company Accounting, Auditing, Business Law, Organizations and Management, Business Statistics, and Taxation Law. Nowadays, knowledge in computer software applications is mandatory in accounting, thus, I managed to learn the basic accounting software applications while in college. I also attended various seminars that highlighted the need to be innovative in accounting procedures. Besides, other students preferred to hang around me because I am quite accommodating and sociable. I like studying in a group rather than alone so that I can learn from others, as well as offer my opinion to others.
To build my career, I worked as a business planning manager in the Finance Department. Some of the responsibilities that I handled were but not limited to developing and implementing planning processes; assisting the management in revenue accounting and resource management; developing standard procedures to control business operations; and identifying business problems to be recommended for improvements. I also participate in teamwork activities, where I have been an assistant team leader. Ten years experience, I believe, is enough to earn me a CPA license. Acquiring the CPA license will enable me to compete more favorably in the job market than just having a certificate in accounting. It will thus enhance job security, as well as put me in good stead for better opportunities at the workplace.
I hold the ambition of becoming an auditor in one of the prestigious CPA firms in the country or a Financial Controller in a private company someday. It is my hope that studying a Masters in Accounting will enhance my understanding on the world businesses and company processes, in addition to creating a wider range of connections to accounting responsibilities. I would like guarantee you that I will remain deeply committed to what I believe in once I am awarded this scholarship. As the world of business experiences a rapid change because of technological advancements, it is my desire to be among those who will be remembered for their contributions. Major companies are in need of accounting professionals who can audit or offer financial advice to the executive directors. However, I wouldn’t wish for a financial problem to hinder me from living my dream. Being awarded a scholarship will definitely give me an opportunity to become one of the most valuable individuals involved in transforming our country’s economy.
